Please get on the 5 freeway (the 110 also has a stadium way exit, this is the wrong side) and exit Stadium way (5 exit near Dodger Stadium, 1000 Elysian Park Ave, Los Angeles, California 90012) head towards Grace E Simons Lodge... keep going until you have to turn and see a huge row of palm trees lining a street. Look for parking there :p

See you there!! Thanks so much :D :D :D <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Outfit: Labor Day Weekend Shinies!

So it's been a while... I think I shopped so much the past couple of months that I didn't know what to post about. So I stopped shopping for like 2-3 weeks and then just stopped thinking about clothes for a bit. Though I've been getting into making rave bras. Yeah, don't judge me. It makes so much sense, really; should have seen this coming.

So I'm currently enjoying a super hot blehhh but nice 4 day weekend. Because I was off last Friday because of the holiday, I was able to run for a little bit to sample sales at the fashion district downtown. It's been years since I've gone, like since I graduated from fashion school 4 years ago. Hah. Picked up a top, ran down to meet Tam, got lost and bought a skirt... LOL

Also, bf was off on some Canadian mountains, so I was left alone... I basically spent my time watching Law and Order: Criminal Intent, and sewing and gluing shinies to a bra. Yeah. You totally missed me (:

Capsule Wardrobe: August

New process... capsule wardrobe. I'm so fascinated by this, trying it out.

The idea is to pick a certain number of garments, and then sticking to wearing only these said pieces. As I've looked around online, some people are purists and stick to a few basics, and some are a bit more flexible, allowing for purses and shoes to be switched around free. Well, I don't have much shoes or purses, anyway, so I decided to just go with this. But no, I'm not wearing them. I just wanted to see if it is doable and what interesting things might come out, given limited options. It was really fun to put things together and I really like the results, so I have actually worn some of these outfits.

I realize I could merchandise it better, but here we go!

JACKETS: 2 canvas jackets, 1 silk eyelet blazer, 1 wool blazer in pop color, 1 cropped jacket
TOPS: 5 white silk or cotton tops, various shapes, lengths, & details, 1 black circle tank
SKIRTS: 1 black pleather, 1 gray perf cotton, 1 leopard print pencil, 1 underskirt looking midi
PANTS: 1 pop color foil skinny, 1 black cargo skinny
DRESSES: 1 shirred white maxi, 1 black eyelet midi, 1 silk mini
SWEATERS: 1 black wool cardigan, 1 gray cropped sweatshirt
SHOES: 1 pair black flat boots, 1 pair black stud/rhinestone pumps, 1 pair strappy leopard pony heels

Here are some ladylike things:
BCBG skirt + Dior underskirt, Ann Taylor LOFT jacket, Joie top, Sam Edelman heels
Joie blazer, BCBG top, Ann Taylor skirt, BCBGeneration heels

Purging: Prints and Unflattering Shapes

This is part of the purging I've been doing lately. Been sick the past couple weeks, and been getting rid of clothes. These are some things I was able to take photos of before getting rid of them.

Making space in closet. For about 2 years or so, I've barely had anything in my closet, and now, I actually need to make some space, and really consider the direction my concept is going. Yeah. I think it started with a dark knight in armour-- only bought black and shinies for a while, wanted a tall dark brooding fortress to match. Hah. Then it veered towards more flowy girly sheer things... then comfortable and decent day wear for work. Still unsure, but for the most part, I think the garments in my wardrobe are cohesive. But here are some things I'm purging, and why. Not terribly interesting, but part of my process.

1. white grommet sundress - NOT ENOUGH DRAPE, unsatisfied with the shape
2. Charley 5.0 tie dye jeggings - it seemed like the perfect blending of my love for tie dye and skinnies, but doesn't quite do it
3. self paillette asymmetrical hem dress - COFFIN dress (detail in front only), UNFLATTERING SHAPE
4. buttondown shirtdress - CHEAP FABRIC, vivid blue COLOR
5. Forever 21 Twelve by Twelve floral print dress - vivid color PRINT, BUBBLE skirt
6. Marc Jacobs metallic twist detail top - *actually* still unsure about this one :S
7. Fire hi-low skirt - crazy overwhelming PRINT
8. Calvin Klein silk & cotton dress - UNFLATTERING 20s style SHAPE
9. silk top - blah PRINT
10. sequin t-shirt dress - does not fit my lifestyle anymore
11. long sleeve black top - UNFLATTERING SHAPE

So there. In caps are some reasons for why I would let clothes go willingly. Keep in mind, I am a hoarder. Yeah.

DIY: Bleached & Faded Free People Top

photo taken from here.

I found a cute Free People top... but it fits more like a short dress on me. I really liked the drape, but I couldn't stand the hot pink on it. Considered dyeing it, but looking at the fabric content, it was 60% cotton 40% rayon, I was unsure how that was going to take. Likely dull, with the colors mixing and muddy, stripes still obvious. So I thought back of the direction A&F gave their team one year, one semester, one project. Think sun bleached, wind softened fabrics. Looks and feels like you had been out and it's comfortable and natural wear. Yeah. So I bleached the thing the same night. :p It's not really anything elaborate or time consuming, just something easy and fun to do~
