One summer day, when I was about 7 years old, I decided to open a big chest that my family kept in a room upstairs. I was always out for adventures at that time; I was probably looking for treasure. Hah! And well, I found one (: There was this white dress: lace bodice, pleated skirt. I was so excited, tried it on, and it fit perfectly. I kept it on the rest of the day, running and twirling around all over. I felt like a princess; I was so happy. It was love, and I wore it as much as possible before I outgrew it. Haha.
That was my first taste of the thrill and exhilaration of the hunt for pretty clothes. I've gone through many phases; from fob, to goth, to vintage... many lessons have been learned. Sometimes, I go back to certain predilections. Every now and then, I remember the magic of that white dress.
White dresses make me think of faery tales, beaches, and summers. From Victorian, to bohemian, to crisp alternatives to white collared shirts... I can't get enough of them. But as it is, I'm very picky about white pieces I own. Cheap white clothing can be so obvious; easy to tear, stain, or get mangled in the wash. As I can't buy designer clothes and can't find the perfect vintage or antique pieces, I've decided to make some.
With this rediscovered obsession with white wovens, it will be fun to continuously work on white clothes as I marathon Lost with the bf. Hahaha. After Lost, it'll be One Piece. This project will be a long term commitment.
Here are a few inspiration images for the dress I am currently working on.

SO PRETTY!!! I esp dig the leggings and the sheer lacey top; I only wish I could look good in it. I feel it takes a special kind of person to pull it off well and not look tacky. I tried a top on once and I looked as though I popped out of a grandmother's long forgotten trunk, all hidden away in a dusty attic. LOL.
